What is Reiki?
Do You Feel Like You Need A Cleansing? Reiki might be the answer!
What exactly is Reiki (RAY-KEE)? Well, I’m glad that you’ve stumbled on this post because I am going to give you a quick run down. Have you ever heard or been interested in energy work or energy healing? It is more of a holistic way to target and relieve some stressors and imbalances that may be occurring in your everyday life. Energy healing has been used for many centuries and it involves the energy from the universe to help heal any kind of imbalance.
In the late 1800s to early 1900s, Reiki originated in Japan by Master Mikao Usui. Rei can be defined as universal and/or divine wisdom and Ki is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. Ki is in everything that is alive which includes plants, animals, and of course, humans. With this, the practice of Reiki can rebalance any sort of imbalance at any energy level and it can be spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical. This by no way means to not go to the doctor when feeling ill. Reiki should be supplemental. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, there is nothing that you need to believe in to receive the benefits of Reiki. Master Usui recommends that one practices ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony.
Have you ever heard of chakras? Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex. There are seven different chakra points that we will discuss but each one of them are different colors and go at different speeds. These energy vortexes are essentially channels for the energy to flow through. For you to be able to be your best self, it is vital for all of these chakras to be open or unblocked. You may have heard people say something along the lines of needing to “cleanse their chakras” and this is essentially a way to do it.
As mentioned previously, there are seven different chakra points. Those are (starting from the top of the head to the feet):
Crown - Violet
Third Eye - Indigo
Throat - Blue
Heat - Green
Solar Plexus - Yellow
Sacral - Orange
Root - Red
The Crown represents having a conscious communication with the Higher Power and your Higher Self.
The Third Eye’s function is to be able to visualize, manifest, and to discover the truth behind people’s actions.
The Throat represents communication and the ability to make choices that fit your needs in a productive way without hurting others in the process. If there is that lack of communication, a sore throat may be a way that your body is telling you that your Throat Chakra is blocked.
The Heart’s function is to be non-judgmental, forgiving, and unconditionally loving toward yourself and others around you along with being a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Imbalances of this can lead to mistrust toward others.
The Solar Plexus represents self-esteem, your image and intellect. If you are having a hard time viewing yourself in a positive light or feeling sensitive on how you are being perceived or citisized, this can lead to having a difficult time expressing uncomfortability and emotions.
The Sacral represents the sexual, financial, emotional, and creative aspects of life. Are you able to express happiness in achievements and frustration when things don’t go as planned in a healthy way? How do you view money and sexual urges? Do you feel like you can express yourself in a creative way?
The Root functions as feeling grounded in avenues that are important for survival. The fear of not having a place to stay, enough food, or personal safety. People who have gone through any kind of trauma like physical, psychological, sexual, and abandonment can cause mistrust in the world or the people that they are surrounded by.
What to expect:
Now by having all this information, you may be wondering how one receives treatment to unblock their chakras. The way that Reiki can be performed is in person or distant. If in person, you can expect to be lying down on a comfortable table (similarly to a massage table) and having the practitioner work on your chakras by placing and/or hovering over each chakra points. Doing Reiki virtually is just as powerful as doing it in person, it is all about the intention of what you plan to accomplish during the session. If anything, you will feel extremely relaxed after the session.
If you feel like you would like to learn more or would like to try it out, I will be offering Distant Reiki. Head over to our Services page to send in an inquiry!
