Bringing Intentions to Actions

Habits don’t change overnight, it takes time and dedication to see the change. We are all guilty of fantasizing about what we want to accomplish and finding reasons on why it is unattainable. I am here to call bullshit and here is why. Change can be scary and takes time and effort. Change is uncomfortable. Something many of my clients hear me say often is that we need to marinate in the discomfort to see the change. We, as people, do not want to add additional things to do and accomplish on our list because it can be overwhelming and makes us want to put it on the back burner where it shall stay for a time that you decide to pay it the attention that it deserves. What if I told you that you can give it the attention that it deserves now and that it doesn’t have to be so overwhelming? It is possible so I challenge you to start marinating!

Intentions. It is all about your intentions; this is the first step here. If we are only thinking about our intentions and not putting any effort into these intentions, then they are just daydreams. I used to be notorious at daydreaming and talking about the things that I wanted to accomplish and then some time went by and I did nothing to get those things done. That was on me, no one else. Have you ever heard the term “manifesting?” According to the trusty Merriam-Webster it is to, “make evident or certain by showing or displaying.” I am all about manifesting your intentions. This will give you that accountability by putting it out there and now giving you that drive to see the positive changes. At least, that worked for me.

Now that we know what we want to achieve, let’s be realistic with ourselves and find a way to get these into action. For me, I know making smaller goals to get to the bigger picture has helped me get to my bigger objective. When I start tackling these smaller goals one by one, I am able to see the progression to the end goal. You know that feeling when you cross things off of your to-do list? That is what these smaller goals do for me; it makes me see how proactive I am being and taking steps to tackle it. This may look different for each and every one of you and it may take some time to find what works best for you but the fact that you are continuously trying to get to that end goal, that is good enough.

I find it important to celebrate the progress that you are making, no matter how big or small it is. Progress is progress and that is not a small feat. Sometimes it is difficult to find the motivation to continue with our goals because it’s easier to just let them be but that is not what is going to give you joy. Don’t give up on yourself, you’ll be surprised to see that you have a lot more heart than you give yourself credit for. I don’t know you but the fact that you are here reading this, gives me the faith that you are going to accomplish and achieve wonders!
