Summertime Chi Activities

We wait all year for this time and here it is! If you’re anything like me, it can feel like a lot of pressure to make Summertime Chi a memorable one and it can be hard to figure out where to start! I wanted to share a few ideas to make the most of summer that are low cost, benefit your mental health, and still involve exploring our lovely city. Happy summer!

  • Take a walk or a bike ride along the 606

  • Have your tourist moment and visit Navy Pier

  • Attend one of the many events happening at our Millennium Park

  • Attend one of our many street festivals, there almost seems to be one happening every weekend

  • Go to the beach and make a day of it

  • Take your dog to Montrose beach

  • Get out that paddle and kayak on our river

  • Find your neighborhood Farmers Market and get some local produce

  • Get a Divvy and ride around the streets

  • Walk, eat, lounge all on the riverwalk- great people watching!

  • Enjoy an afternoon on the water and buy tickets for an architectural boat tour

  • Right after the boat tour, jump on a water taxi

  • Get your blanket and attend an outdoor movie

  • Enjoy one of the rooftop restaurants and look out on our cityscape

  • Attend our museums free days- make a goal to hit all of them in one summer!

  • We have a lot of great art around the city- do a tour of it

  • Let off some steam dancing at one of our music festivals…Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Riot fest, Spring Awakening…

  • Spend the afternoon at the local parks, maybe bring some food and have a picnic

  • Cheer on one of our local sports teams…go Cubs!

  • Go on your own brewery tour, our city has lots of cool ones

  • Have a laugh and buy a ticket to Zanies or Second City

  • Celebrate Pride and our LGBTQIA+ community

  • Do your own restaurant tour of Chicago

Lastly, after all these fun activities, make sure to just have a nice day in and enjoy getting some rest. There can be pressure to make the most of summer but that requires a full battery and some rest and relaxation.
