'Midnights' Journal Prompts
Hello fellow Swifties,
(Or at least, I’m assuming you’re a Swiftie if you clicked onto this blog post!)
At midnight on October 21st, Taylor Swift graced us with yet another brilliant album titled ‘Midnights.’ I have always loved how creative yet relatable Taylor’s songs are, and so when she dropped this latest gem of an album it got me thinking: What great journal prompts could be written based off of the songs on this album? Well, after listening to it over, and over, and over again, here are some prompts that came to mind:
Lavender Haze
What's one thing from your past that you regret? When this memory and regret shows up, how do you respond to it? Write three compassionate statements you could say to yourself the next time this memory resurfaces.
Maroon
Share an experience in which you lost someone important to you. How has this loss impacted you today? If you could go back and do things differently, what would you do? Would it change anything?
Anti-Hero
Write about what thoughts and feelings come up for you when you make a mistake or fail at something. How and when did you learn to respond in this way?
Snow on the Beach
Would you agree that life is "emotionally abusive?" How so? How might this belief protect you? How might it hold you back?
You’re On Your Own, Kid
Share a time in which you acted inauthentically in order to get something you wanted. Was it worth it? Why or why not?
Midnight Rain
How do you respond when your values clash with someone else’s? How does it impact the relationship dynamic? How do you know whether you should terminate the relationship or accept/work through your differences?

Think back on a time when your friends were making fun of you. What thoughts and feelings came up for you at that moment? How did it shift the way you behaved with these friends?
Vigilante Shit
What does your taste in fashion say about you? What do you hide under your choice in clothing, makeup, or hairstyle?
Bejeweled
List some of the ways you practice self-care. Consider: how do each of these activities help me specifically? Choose something from the list to do today.
Labyrinth
Define vulnerability in your own words. How do you know when you can be vulnerable with someone else?
Karma
Finish the sentence: “Karma is…” Where does this definition or belief come from?
Sweet Nothing
Think of the most important relationships you have in your life right now. What expectations do you have of these people? What do you think these people expect of you? Are these expectations realistic? Why or why not?
Mastermind
How often do you spend time thinking about or planning for the future? How do you respond when things don't work out the way you expected them to?
